Replacing the Motor Core on Your Kasen E-Bike: A DIY Guide

At Kasen Electric Bicycles, we understand that maintaining your eBike is essential to keeping it in peak performance. Whether you’re a commuter, an off-road adventurer, or just an e-bike enthusiast, it’s important to know how to take care of your ride. One crucial aspect of eBike maintenance is replacing the motor core, a component that directly affects the performance and longevity of your e-bike.

This step-by-step guide will show you how to replace the motor core on your Kasen eBike, ensuring your ride stays powerful, reliable, and smooth for years to come.

Step-by-Step Guide: Replacing Your Motor Core

1. Remove the Wheel from Your Bike

Start by placing your eBike on a secure bike stand. Loosen the axle nuts or quick release and remove the rear wheel. Make sure you unplug any motor wires before fully detaching the wheel.

2. Remove the Brake Disc

Carefully unscrew the bolts securing the brake disc to the hub. Set the brake disc aside in a clean, safe spot.

3. Remove the 8 Bolts from the Motor Core Housing

Locate the 8 bolts that hold the motor core housing in place. Use a wrench to carefully remove these bolts.

4. Tap the Opposite Side of the Hub Axle

Using a rubber mallet, gently tap the opposite side of the hub axle until the motor core becomes loose and can be pulled out.

5. Clean and Grease the Inner Housing

Before inserting the new motor core, ensure that the inner housing is free of debris and properly greased. This helps with installation and improves performance.

6. Check the Keyway

Your motor core comes in two pieces. Ensure the keyway is securely in place, as your motor won’t function without it.

7. Insert the New Motor Core

Carefully insert the new motor core, making sure it’s flush with the housing and properly aligned.

8. Secure the New Core with the 8 Bolts

Replace the 8 bolts and tighten them securely. Be sure the motor core is aligned properly before fully tightening each bolt.

9. Reinstall the Brake Disc

Reattach the brake disc by securing it with the same bolts you removed earlier.

10. Reinstall the Wheel

Carefully place the wheel back on the bike, making sure the motor wires are not pinched or damaged. Tighten the axle nuts or secure the quick release, reconnect the motor wiring, and you’re done!
